Play & Distraction Therapy
CCLASP is proud to sponsor a Buzzy for each child requiring treatment at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and Glasgow as a form of distraction therapy. Buzzy is a form of pain relief designed for children and helps needle pain when going for treatment by confusing your body’s own nerves and distracting attention away from the poke by vibrating on the skin, thereby dulling or eliminating sharp pain. Designed to look like a Bee, it is a great distraction technique in an often distressing situation and is a reusable device which can be taken to all hospital appointments. Each Buzzy comes complete with quiz and play cards that parents can also use to distract their child when receiving painful injections.
